Seychelles becomes 161st WTO member

26 April 2015:The WTO welcomed Seychelles as its 161st Member

Seychelles completed its accession negotiations on 17 October 2014, when the Working Party adopted the accession package, ad referendum.  The General Council approved the accession on 10 December 2014. Seychelles completed the ratification process of its Accession Protocol in March 2015.  On 26 April 2015, the WTO welcomed Seychelles as its 161st Member.

Seychelles, an archipelago of 90000 inhabitants,is one of the smallest nations among the WTO members.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the bulk of the world’s trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business.
