World Population Day 2015:Vulnerable Populations in Emergencies

World Population Day is observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues.In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that 11 July be observed by the international community as World Population Day, a day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. The theme of this year's World Population Day is Vulnerable Populations in Emergencies.

In 1989 it was decided by the Governing Council of United Nations Development Programme that every year 11 July should be observed as World Population Day.

 According to the latest UN figures, a record number of people are displaced by crises which is about 60 million.
United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) works in emergency settings around the world to respond to the rights and needs of women and girls, helping them maintain their dignity, securing their safety, and restoring their access to sexual and reproductive health care.
  UNFPA will be raising awareness of the needs of vulnerable women and girls in emergencies in this year’s World Population Day.
   UNFPA’s aim is to ensure that women’s and adolescent girls’ right to sexual and reproductive health is protected and their safety is ensured.
