10TH INTERNATIONAL SHOW ON 'MAKE IN INDIA' IN AEROSPACE, DEFENCE, CIVIL AVIATION, AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEFENCE ENGINEERING

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18th Feb,2015 inaugurated the 10th 'Aero India' show here making a strong pitch to end India's dependence on defence imports. It is organised at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru, Karnataka. 

This 10th edition of Aero Show is placing special focus on Union governments Make in India campaign. It is also targetting to encourage SMEs to invest in defence manufacturing sector. There are delegates from 109 countries and over 700 companies from India and abroad are taking part in the exhibition.

In the exhibition, India is showcasing the following major items-

a-indigenously made Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas

b- Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv

c- radars, missiles, satellites, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)

d- Airborne early warning and control system (AWACS) .
While the foreign coutries  are showcasing mainly- F-15C Eagle, Lockheed F-16C, Boeing KC-135, Boeing C-17, Rafale and Embraer EMB-145I etc.

About Aero India- It  is a biennial air show and aviation exhibition. It is organized at Bangaluru at the Yelahanka Air Force Station. Its objective is to provides a single platform to many manufacturers and service providers from the Indian aerospace and abroad to meet the potential buyers for their products.It is organized by Defence Exhibition Organisation under the aegis of Ministry of Defence.

The first AERO India show was held in 1996.
