Environment Friendly LED’s: The Nobel in Physics, 2014

Nobel in Physics is awarded to Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura for the development of LED’s (Light Emitting Diodes) which lead to saving of energy in a sufficient way.

These LEDs have proved to be much environment friendly, bright and safe compare to conventional light sources. The special feature of is the emission of Blue light from these LEDs which gives the LEDs these benefits. Red and green diodes have already been used but the constant efforts to create light source with blue light were unsuccessful.

The awardees came up with blue light emitting diodes, which turned to be most long lasting and energy efficient light emitting sources. These LEDs are 100 times more long lasting in respect to conventional bulbs thus are a greater resource for increasing population worldwide.
